Culture difference

Today we have some american friends to visit us.While during the talking,they said they were feeling so much different between the american culture and the finnish one.They are getting nervous when the finnish people stop talking and not making any sound.(while in finland it is pretty normal) But I know that finnish people sometimes just said "oh,americans! talk,talk,talk...."
And one of my classmate is from Belgium and he said to me " ha,the culture is totally different than in Belgium." What? he can say totally different,what about me,someone from far away the east part of the world.
Well,it is said somewhere that the finnish has the snow and ice character. what is it about chinese then? and what is it about your country people then?
